Betsy Plank
Betsy Ann Plank (1924–2010)〔 is commonly known as the first lady of public relations because her public relations career, which lasted 63 years, was filled with many firsts.〔 She was recognized by the Arthur W. Page Center for Integrity in Public Communication">title=Betsy Plank )〕 and ''The New York Times'' referred to her as "a true trailblazer in the field of public relations."〔 ==Early life== On April 3, 1924, Plank was born in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.〔 She received a bachelor's degree in history and a minor in English literature from the University of Alabama.〔 There was no such thing as a public relations major when she attended college, which inspired her efforts to develop and advance public relations education.〔 Following her graduation in 1944, she briefly pursued a career in radio broadcasting.〔
